Christie Taylor is from Sparta New Jersey, and has participated in service-learning and civic activities since she was in the fifth grade. Christie has always had a strong innate desire to serve her community, developing her own program from home known as Birthday Brigade.
In high school, Christie’s passion for service excelled and she was chosen to work in an AmeriCorps position her junior year, serving 300 hours of community service. Through this amazing experience Christie has developed strong relationships with children she has mentored from the inner cities and literacy programs, and was able to speak to other people her age about how this service has changed her life. In high school she was also captain of the varsity lacrosse, cross-country, and track team.
Currently a Sophomore at the University of Scranton, PA , Christie is studying Counseling and Human resources with a minor in psychology. Christie is involved in the Habitat for Humanity Club along with the International Service Program, where she will be serving in Mexico City this spring. She played on the Varsity Lacrosse team her freshmen year, and now teaches a Zumba dance class three times a week at the University.
Christie is the youngest of four, with two brothers, Kevin and Curtis Taylor, sister Carly Taylor, and mother and father Gene and Diane Taylor. She has always had a love for sports and enjoys running. In college she has picked up an interest in all kinds of dances, where she takes part in a Ballroom, Latin, and Swing dance class, and leads Zumba classes with other instructors for fundraisers at home.
Christie Taylor is excited to be apart of the Youth Advisory Board, and brings with her a positive attitude, an open-mind, and enthusiasm.
